Anay Mehrotra

Anay Mehrotra

I am a third-year Ph.D. student in the Computer Science department at Yale University, where I am fortunate to be advised by Nisheeth Vishnoi and to work with Elisa Celis. Apart from the CS department, I am affiliated with the Computation and Society Initiative.

I am interested in questions at the intersection of computer science, ethics, and society. I am currently studying the emergence of bias and the efficacy of bias-mitigating interventions in realistic contexts where humans, algorithms, and data pipelines interact, and any (or all) of these systems can be noisy or inaccurate.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur where I received the Sri Binay Kumar Sinha Award for the best undergraduate project that addresses a problem affecting society. While at IIT Kanpur, I represented the institute at the 2020 ICPC World Finals.

Last year summer, I interned at MSR India where I worked with Amit Deshpande and Anand Louis.
